Super DLT
Recovery
Common Problems
Failed or damaged backup.
Corrupt header in sequenced tape.
The Super DLT is a tape with the capacity of
110GB and 160GB, uncompressed. It's a
popular storage method and due to its
capacity it is generally used for backup
purposes. Shortcomings are the difficulty
and time consumed by restoring a backup and its slow write speed.
Recovery procedures
for Super DLT involve a diagnostic hardware
scan. Depending on the problem or damage, we
may have to use software, or in severe cases
will read it manually in our clean room.
If a tape in the
sequence is missing, we can still pull the
data from the other tapes.
