RAID data recovery
Common Problems
The RAID controller has been corrupted.
The array is broken due to a single bad
drive.
Power failure or surges have caused damage.
An array rebuild has failed.
RAID is a popular setup that spans multiple
hard drives to create the storage volume.
Damage to individual disks can cause failure
because the data is striped or spanned
across multiple hard drives (the array), so portions of the files
are not found. Other times power failure may
cause the array to be unusable, a backup may
have been restored unsuccessfully, or
malicious human action has been taken on the
RAID.
RAID
Recovery procedures involve determining the
damage, source of the problem, and how much
data can be extracted. For serious failure,
this may involve careful disassembly and
extensive manual repair in our clean room.
Our lab supports RAID 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 0+1, 1+0,
and 5+0. For specific information, please select
your level of RAID below. Additional
configurations such as RAID 5+1 are covered
under the primary category, in this case,
RAID 5.
